In this role you will be a strategic partner, consultant and transactional contributor in providing a full range of Human Resources services to an assigned portfolio of departments. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Serve as a dedicated business partner/HR Manager to assigned departments providing professional advice and counsel to managers, supervisors, and employees regarding public sector labor and employment law, policy, recruitment, classification and compensation, benefits coordination, and performance management including progressive discipline and investigations. Lead the city's efforts related to one or more city-wide program such as employee wellness, training and development, employee engagement and recognition, benefits, or other HR programs/initiatives. Work with supervisors, managers, and employees in all aspects of protected leave and the ADA interactive process including navigating the intersection with workers' compensation. Conduct surveys, research, and statistical analysis related to administrative, fiscal, human resource, and operational problems and issues to develop and implement solutions. Participate in the development of departmental goals, procedures, and work standards and city-wide policies and procedures. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities, to perform the essential functions of the position, may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business or public administration, human resources, or a related field AND Four (4) years of human resources generalist experience in a variety of HR functional areas - designing, developing, and implementing human resources programs, preferably in the public sector, with preference given to city or county experience. Licenses and Certifications: Possession of a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving history.
