BRIEF DESCRIPTION :   Under general supervision has responsibility for answering multiple incoming phone lines, dispatching calls, including operating the 9-1-1 system and use of radio during assigned shift and provide general information to the public. Must be willing and able to work flexible shift, holidays, and weekends as needed.

The Town of Carrboro, NC (pop. 21,230) is seeking a strong, positive, and energetic leader to be its next Fire Chief. The Carrboro Fire-Rescue Department is an ISO Class 2 department consisting of 37 firefighters dedicated to protecting the lives and property of Carrboro and Orange County residents, and provides fire suppression, emergency medical services, and light technical rescue services. The Department also has a comprehensive Community Risk Reduction program which includes outreach and public education initiatives. The Fire Chief is responsible for the planning, directing, and supervising of the overall operations of the Fire-Rescue Department, to include handling personnel and public information matters, coordinating work with the Town Manager and department directors, ensuring that all laws, regulations, and procedures are followed, and maintaining appropriate records and files.
