City of Albany

Albany is the 11th largest city in Oregon with 58,000 residents and the third fastest growing city in the state. We are the county seat of and largest city in Linn County, and the second largest city in Benton County.

Albany sits at the confluence of the Calapooia and Willamette rivers, an area first recognized as an important and vibrant place by the native Kalapuya people. The manufacturing industries of early European settlers put Albany at a crossroads of rail, riverboat, and highway. Today, a stunning collection of historic homes is just one reminder of our past. Our diverse economy is led by major employers in the rare metals industry, education, healthcare, and food processing. We are looking forward to putting tomorrow’s innovative companies at the center of the Willamette Valley.

In Albany you’re a short drive from ocean beaches or snow-capped slopes. The state capitol in Salem is just 25 miles to the north and the Portland metropolitan area is less than an hour away. Linn-Benton Community College offers exceptional vocational training right here and several state universities are just minutes away. Our community takes great pride in our exceptional library and recreation programs, including summer concerts and the annual Northwest Art & Air Festival.

We are Oregon’s Hub City.
