The Mid-Willamette Valley Council of Governments (MWVCOG) seeks well qualified candidates with relevant professional management and leadership experience for the Executive Director position.
The MWVCOG is a non-partisan, voluntary association of governments founded in 1957 in Marion, Polk and Yamhill Counties with its main office located in the state capital, Salem, Oregon. The MWVCOG represents the interests of forty (40) local governments within the Mid-Willamette Valley region that includes the Counties of Marion, Yamhill and Polk, thirty-three (33) cities, the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde (a federally recognized community of tribal families) and six (6) special districts.
The Executive Director is appointed by the MWVCOG Board of Directors and provides leadership to a talented professional staff of twenty (20) to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of an array of essential services provided in support of its participating members.
The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible managerial and supervisory experience with background in, or professional familiarity with, community/economic development and regional transportation planning. Prior experience working with intergovernmental entities and processes is highly desirable, in addition to demonstrable success supporting governing boards and engaging a diverse array of stakeholders in service to local and regional needs.
