This position oversees utilities engineering for the design and construction of complex capital projects, including stations, roadways and park-n-Rides. This position develops working relationships with public agencies, utility companies and private consultants for coordination of capital improvements and project schedules, design approvals and construction permits. Salary Range $67,351 - $112,252. This position is open until filled.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL:
* Designs new lines to serve organizational facilities by preparing minor drainage design, utility agreements, assisting in the negotiation of agreements with utility companies, scheduling utility relocations, coordinating with utility companies and documenting utility locations and needed mitigation of utilities in relationship to capital projects.
* Performs, monitors, reviews and coordinates utility and minor drainage design efforts related to track alignments, station siting, park-n-Rides, utilities relocation and street reconstruction. Coordinates activities with public agencies, utility companies, railroads, consultants and internal staff.
* Determines whether existing utilities are in conflict with project and reviews and obtains copies of utility permits and licenses issued by government agencies or railroad companies. Develops plans for resolving any conflicts.
* Obtains utility locations, maps, designs, and coordinates utility locating efforts for utilities related to or inspected by capital improvement projects and investigates the relocation of existing utilities.
* Assists in the determination of responsibility of utility relocation, modification or protection of utilities in relation to the implementation of capital projects.
* Prepares construction plans and specifications for utilities and minor drainage improvements in accordance with applicable industry and local agency standards and project criteria. Acts as engineer-of-record for utility and minor drainage improvements designed in-house.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
* Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado is required
* A minimum of five years of experience in the design and relocation of utility elements for transportation infrastructure projects.
* A minimum of five years of experience in utilities design, drainage design, and construction contract management, cost control and scheduling.
* Proficiency in pipeline design, hydraulics, storm water treatment, and modeling techniques for pressurized piping networks, culvert design, drainage way design, and detention pond sizing.
* Proficiency in procedures required by the local and municipal utility companies, Urban Drainage and Flood Control District (UDFCD), and the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT).
* Familiarity with CAD applications.
* The ability to approach technical issues, identify alternative solutions, and solve complex problems.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
* Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
* Ability to use sound judgment.
* Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details.
* Willingness to be reassigned to various projects as needed.
