Job Description

Purpose & Job Related Requirements

REPORTS TO: Airport Director
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
CLASSIFICATION: Personnel System – Requires satisfactory completion of a 12-month probationary period.
PAY GRADE: FD2
SAFETY SENSITIVE: Yes - Subject to random drug testing per the Athens-Clarke County Drug and Alcohol Ordinance.

Purpose of Job 
Provide fire/medical services along with airport operations to ensure a safe and properly functioning airport in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Respond to aircraft alerts, emergencies, and crashes to extinguish fires, perform rescues, and provide emergency medical services to victim.

Conduct foot and vehicle patrols of airport and surrounding areas to identify and deter illegal activity and conduct building checks.  Enforce city, state, and federal laws and airport rules and regulations.

Operate, inspect, and perform minor maintenance of crash trucks and emergency equipment.

Ability to work various shifts as needed.

Job Related Requirements
WORK SCHEDULE: 
Normally Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 5:00 pm. Subject to work holidays, weekends; and on call after hours.

May be required to work on religious holidays.
 
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
 
Must work cooperatively with others.
 
When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy. 

Minimum Training & Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum of one year relevant experience in fire.

Ability to obtain CPR, ARFF, and First Responder Certifications.  Maintenance of certification is a requirement for continued employment.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.  

CDL preferred.
