POSITION CLOSES: When Filled
WAGE: $11.00/hour, full-time
Are you a person with strong organizational skills? Can you prepare letters in MS Word and utilize the mail merge function? Do you seek full-time work for the entire summer in a professional workplace, for a dynamic organization?
The City of Naperville’s Transportation, Engineering & Development department (TED) is searching for a special person to help our Development team get caught up! We seek a Summer Office Assistant for full-time employment for the 2021 summer season. Work hours are from approx. 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The term of employment is for 13 - 14 weeks, from approximately mid-May through mid-August.
You will help our permitting & development teams to address administrative backlogs and to catch up. You will be tasked with closing out expired building permits in our systems, and archiving related folders. There is a lot to learn to close out these permit files accurately – we will train you! After mastering related processes, some tasks can be somewhat repetitive.
Reporting to our Development Operations Manager, you will work closely with the Customer Service Assistants and the Senior Intern.
Applicants should be currently enrolled in a community college Associate degree program or a major college program. You may even have already completed two years of (post-high school) academic study.
Training is provided, but candidates must possess basic MS Office skills in order to prepare correspondence to the public, and to complete mail merges.
Strong organizational skills are required to consistently close out hundreds of permits (and their multiple pieces) over the course of the summer. We will instruct you on the proper use of related functions in the City’s “Naviline” system.
The ability to work accurately is a must! You should also bring energy and be self-motivated. This is an excellent opportunity to learn and work for a progressive organization. 😊
All applicants must be at least 18 years of age to apply for a position with the City. Relatives of city employees or City Council members are not eligible to apply. A valid State of Illinois Class D Driver's License is required. Applicants should possess a driving history with no moving violations for at least the last twelve (12) months. Any offer of employment will be contingent upon a pre-employment / post-offer drug screen.
