Position Summary
Under the general guidance of the Recreation Center Customer Service Supervisor, this position is primarily responsible for monitoring the Kid Zone child watch areas and provides short-term child watch services. All work is done for the general purpose of maintaining safety, well-being and enrichment of the children while in the care of Kid Zone staff. Work is performed with latitude for the exercise of independent judgment and action to achieve and promote the City’s values: integrity, teamwork, service, vision, dedication, we care.
Our Kid Zone at the Lenexa Rec Center is open from 8am-12pm Monday through Saturday and 4pm-8:30pm Monday through Thursday.
We are looking for candidates who can work weekday mornings.
1st shift 8:00AM to 12:00PM, Monday through Saturday

Qualifications
Minimum: Must be 16 years of age at the time of employment and have previously worked with children, professionally or through volunteer work. Must possess or be able to obtain CPR/First Aid certification within first three months of hire.
Desired: Two years’ experience in one or more of the following program areas: childcare, general youth programming, arts and crafts, or sports and athletics. Teaching or previous child watch experience.
Starting rate of pay: $8.50 per hour. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical and drug screen. A background check is required if over the age of 18.
