The City of College Station is home to 125,000+ residents and Texas A&M University. It is the only city in the country with six accredited departments, one of which is our Public Works Department! We are seeking a dedicated, experienced leader to join our team of public servants as we provide excellent services to our growing and dynamic community.
The Director of Public Works is responsible for the organization, direction, and coordination of the Public Works Department, including the following divisions; capital projects, street, drainage, and landscape and irrigation maintenance, facility maintenance, traffic engineering, traffic signs and signals, fleet maintenance, and solid waste disposal services. The Director is responsible for implementation of organizational policies and the supervision of subordinates in meeting departmental goals and objectives.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in engineering, public administration or a related field and seven years of progressively responsible experience, including five years in a supervisory role. Additionally, this candidate will have experience and knowledge in methods, practices, and equipment used in public works, utility maintenance and repair.
