The Economic Development Director is responsible for managing an operating budget of $10.6M and a staff of 33, the director will provide key economic, financial, demographic, and other relevant information to businesses seeking to invest, establish or expand business opportunities in Pinellas County. He or she will oversee research and development of financing options; grant writing, preparation of reports and correspondence related to projects.
The Economic Development Director will develop and maintain strategic relationships with commercial and industrial real estate organizations and developers for the purpose of assisting businesses and key industries with growth, expansion, and relevant site information for potential projects under consideration.
He or she will oversee business development, expansion, recruitment, retention and other international trade initiatives, and a robust redevelopment program. The Economic Development Director will direct marketing initiatives and oversee the department’s entrepreneurial and small business assistance and development initiatives. He/she will also act as Director of the Economic Development Authority which oversees the operations of the Young Rainey STAR Center.
The director will work closely with County officials and departments. This innovative leader will build and maintain strong relationships with the community, including municipal partners, workforce and education partners, and labor groups. Advancing regional partnerships and opportunities will be a priority.
As an effective communicator, the Economic Development Director will engage the community, presenting information to the Board of County Commissioners ; as well as representing the County at meetings with the business community and the public.
The director will work to advance PCED’s commitment towards building an economic environment where every citizen has an opportunity to participate in the economic growth of Pinellas County through the organization’s efforts in industry data sharing, convening of stakeholders, and championing of economic inclusivity.
Salary $150,000+ DoQ
