We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join the City of Hermosa Beach team on a part-time, temporary basis as an Environmental Programs Intern. This position will be a part of the City Manager’sOffice which is committed to high quality service to the residents and visitors of Hermosa Beach through the use of strong project management skills, great interpersonal and communication skills, and a commitment to community engagement and collaboration.
The Environmental Programs Intern provides support on a variety of tasks and initiatives led by the Environmental Programs Manager. The Environmental Programs Intern will assist with research, preparation of outreach materials, surveys, reports, website content and purchasing for a variety of projects that cover the following topical areas:
General Community Event Outreach on Environmental Programs
Green Business Certification Program
Solid Waste, Recycling, and Food Waste Programs
Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Programs
Water Conservation and Water Quality Programs
Specific tasks and project assignments will be determined in coordination with the Environmental Programs Manager based on project needs and alignment of intern interest/expertise.

Self-starter, dependable, diligent, amenable to performing elementary tasks to advance project goals;
Ability to complete assignments independently, accurately, and on time;
Excellent organizational skills and ability to demonstrate attention to detail;
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing;
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work on teams;
Experience using Microsoft Office applications like Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
Experience using graphic design software like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite, ArcGIS.
Current enrollment in an accredited university (proof of completion of 90 quarter units or 60 semester units required) completing studies in an undergraduate or postgraduate program in Political Science, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Graphic Design, Geography, Urban Planning, Engineering, Public Administration, Public Policy, Marketing, or a closely related field;
A valid California Class C Driver License;
Willingness to work occasional evenings and/or weekends.
