Job Description

The City of Beaverton is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to fill a vacant Support Specialist 2 position in the Community Development Department’s Administration Division.  

This position requires an individual to possess excellent organizational and communication skills including the ability to interact respectfully; effectively build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external customers; have experience providing support to multiple staff; be detail oriented and collaborative; enjoy working in a fast-paced team environment; effectively manage multiple tasks with competing priorities; demonstrate thoroughness of work and the ability to follow through on complex tasks; and have a passion for providing positive, quality customer service.  

This is a non-exempt, SEIU-classified position. There is one vacancy available. 

Selection Process Note: Selected candidates who move on to the next step in the selection process will be invited to complete a skills test administered by email tentatively on July 30, 2021. First round interviews will follow the skills test.

  • Be proficient in the software programs in the Microsoft Office Suite


  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3 years of administrative experience; OR
    • a 2-year degree and 2 years of administrative experience; OR 
    • a 4-year degree and some administrative experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access) and the Internet 
  • Strong experience with multi-line phones, customer service, administrative duties and multitasking
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet the city’s driving standards
  • Ability to pass a skills test as part of the selection process. 
  • Ability to pass reference checks, a degree verification check, if applicable, and satisfy the requirements of a background check. 


  • Skill in basic bookkeeping and accounting, data entry, digital file and records management

Wage Range: $20.74 - $27.79 per hour.
Starting rate will be determined depending on relevant work experience as outlined in the Equal Pay Act. New hires who meet minimum requirements will start at step one. Higher steps may be offered to those who have additional years of directly related experience to the position.

The city pays the full retirement contribution to PERS; provides employees with an opportunity to participate in a deferred compensation retirement plan; makes available a public service loan forgiveness program and tuition reimbursement program; and offers excellent health, dental, vision and life insurance coverage. Bilingual pay (4% above the base) may be offered, contingent on the candidate passing a proficiency test provided by the city.
