GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

The Facilities & Property Management Director will positively impact County operations by providing occupants of County-owned and managed facilities throughout the county with safe, well-maintained, functional buildings and grounds while protecting, preserving, and providing wise stewardship of these valuable County resources through policy, financial management, leasing, capital improvement, and customer service. You will focus on providing excellent customer service while facilitating and coordinating daily requests and building operational (maintenance and repair) needs to an assigned property portfolio. You will also work closely and collaborate with County Administration, cross-divisional process partners, Facilities staff, building representatives, building occupants, vendors, contractors, and visitors. 

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

This employee directs the operations of the Facilities Department within budgeted funds, and contractual responsibilities while maintaining County-owned buildings, properties, equipment, and services for the public, and county employee comfort and safety.  The Director is responsible for planning, supervising, and inspecting activities of specific program components and oversees all contracts and contractors that provide facilities maintenance and services.  The Director is also responsible for overseeing the acquisition and disposition of county real property.  The employee develops, implements, and evaluates short and long-range goals and objectives based on the assessment of facility maintenance needs and develops and implements policies, procedures, and performance standards.  The Director also ensures that equipment and machines are kept in optimum condition so that repairs are carried out in a timely manner.   This employee negotiates contracts, monitors standards, and ensures contractual compliance.  The employee provides ongoing consultation to department heads on building maintenance budgetary needs.  The employee reports directly to County Manager or assigned Assistant County Manager.
