GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
This position oversees the development, management, and operation of park facilities.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
An employee in this class is responsible for the direction and administration of parks and recreation services and planning activities. Duties include preparing an annual budget, overseeing the daily operations of park services, formulating long-range operating and capital plans for the County's park system, and representing the department in interactions with the public, partner agencies, and the Board of County Commissioners. Considerable independent judgment and initiative are required. Work is performed under general direction and is evaluated by the accomplishment of desired objectives. Plans, organizes, coordinates, and assigns the work of subordinate staff; conducts performance evaluations; hire, trains, supervises subordinate staff. Establishes and implements operating policies and procedures. Reviews reports, budgets, goals, and policies proposed by staff. Prepares, reviews, analyzes, and presents operating and capital improvement budgets. Supervision and progress is checked through the review of reports.
