Beaverton is seeking an experienced accountant with supervisory experience. Governmental accounting experience and knowledge of GASB standards are a plus!

The Position: This position will perform a variety of advanced accounting, auditing and budgeting assignments, and supervise the city’s accounting personnel. The position will be responsible for daily cash oversight, monthly bank and investment portfolio reconciliations, interest allocations across all city funds, payment acceptance methods including merchant contacts, assisting with financial transactions of property management, preparing various monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and statements, and evaluating internal control procedures and practices. 
This is an exempt, Management-2 position. There is one vacancy. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, working remotely may be an option, but onsite work will be required.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE IS: 

  • Self-motivated, organized and values professionalism. 
  • An effective leader with experience managing multiple programs and staff. 
  • A superb communicator verbally, visually, and in writing. 
  • Experienced in the practices, principles and laws and regulations governing budgeting and municipal finance. 
  • Well versed in electronic/digital accounting systems and procedures. 
  • Knowledgeable of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standard Board (GASB) statements affecting local governments. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field 
  • Five years of professional accounting experience, preferably in a government setting
  • One year of supervisory experience
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience enabling the incumbent to perform the essential functions of the position will be considered. 
  • Ability to pass reference checks, a degree verification check and satisfy the requirements of a background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
