Under general direction of the Economic Development Manager, the Tourism Marketing Manager assists with overseeing all aspects of marketing, digital marketing, social media, communications and graphic design for the department to increase the visibility of City of College Station Tourism and Economic Development activities to current and potential visitors and investors, as well as promoting the city as a travel destination and place to do business through media and community relations programs; leads and assists in the coordination of promotional activities, sponsorship events, ground breakings and facility openings, and cooperative marketing programs; designs, implements and oversees initiatives and campaigns for public events, conventions as well as destination-wide promotions; and provides communications/social media/marketing expertise and support to the Economic Development Manager, Tourism Manager and the Director of Economic Development & Tourism.
The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, public relations, graphic design, communications, or related field and three (3) years of experience directly related to area of assignment, including one (1) year of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additionally, a valid Texas Driver’s License, knowledge of AP Style and HTML code, knowledge of traditional and emerging marketing techniques and technologies and experience with development and execution of marketing plans, capturing metrics of such plans, and performing necessary analysis are essential for success. Proficiency with current Microsoft and Mac applications, Adobe Creative Suite, social media platforms and strategic use and measurement of each are helpful to create and distribute our message. Strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, as well as a proven track record of community involvement with regards to activities, special events, projects, and other related activities is essential. Last but certainly not least is the ability to use tact, diplomacy, exceptional customer service skills, and to make effective presentations to groups of all sizes.
