The Position

The City of Beaverton Information Services Department has an exciting Computer Service Technician opportunity! If you are a qualified, self-motivated individual and want to be a part of a diverse team of dedicated and talented individuals, we want to hear from you!

The city is hiring a technician to assist with the needs of the city’s computing infrastructure and will perform a variety of duties related to information services and technology in the fields of communications, networks, computer systems, equipment and customer service.

We are seeking applicants with experience and skills in:

  • Installing and upgrading Windows 10
  • Configuration and deployment of computer equipment and peripherals
  • Managing local and group policies
  • Managing Active Directory and DHCP
  • Installing and configuring software packages
  • Troubleshooting hardware, software and printers
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and inventory
  • Cloning and managing computer images
  • Onsite and remote customer support

This is a non-exempt, SEIU-classified position. This position requires both remote and direct face-to-face support. There is one vacancy.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Two years of recent and relevant, hands-on experience in computer hardware, software and end-user support in domain environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet the city’s driving standards. 
  • Applicants invited to the first step in the selection process will be administered a skills test. 
  • Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) fingerprints must be completed and cleared prior to start date. Testing must occur within 30 days of hire to receive the CJIS (level 4) certification. A passing score is 70%.
  • Ability to pass reference checks, a drug screen, CJIS fingerprinting and satisfy the requirements of a background check. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Three or more years of recent and relevant experience in computer hardware, software and end-user support in a domain environment.
