Job Description

The Position

The Electrical Inspector will inspect residential and commercial buildings for compliance with all electrical codes, ordinances, standards, rules, and regulations. Check design, construction and quality of materials and location of electrical systems. Review multi-family residential, commercial, and industrial electrical plans and specifications.

This is a non-exempt, SEIU-classified position. This position requires direct face-to-face support. There is one vacancy.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED 
    • If you meet the years of experience requirement and do not have a high school diploma or GED, please contact Human Resources at 503-526-2200. The city also encourages you to contact a local community college or review criteria online for obtaining a GED at https://ged.com/policies/oregon.
  • 1 year of experience as an electrical inspector or an equivalent combination of education and experience enabling the incumbent to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Ability to pass reference checks and satisfy the requirements of a background check. 

 The city will consider combination of education and experience which are assets to successful performance of the job.

  • Valid driver's license and the ability to meet the city's driving standards 
  • State of Oregon general supervising electrician license
  • State of Oregon A-level Electrical Inspector certification
  • State of Oregon Inspector certification

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • State of Oregon Post Earthquake Damage Inspector registration
