he City of Vancouver is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Communications Director. Reporting directly to the City Manager, this position directs the strategy and execution of broad and inclusive internal and external communications and engagement in support of the City Manager and City Council.
The City’s Communications Director is responsible for communications strategies and programs, overseeing a centralized team of talented communications and multimedia professionals, and serving as a member of the management leadership team. The Communications Director plans, organizes, coordinates and directs public information, media communications, issues management, internal communications, crisis communications and civic engagement activities; and promotes and raises the profile of the City within the broader local and regional community.

-Ensure application of an equity lens to all communications work with a focus on increasing engagement with, and participation of, historically under-heard and underrepresented communities.
-Have a professional, articulate, succinct and clear communications and writing style, adaptable to a wide variety of subjects and audiences.
-Be an accomplished and approachable manager who can motivate, develop and encourage staff in a collaborative and compelling manner to support the City and its objectives.
