As a Senior Planner for the City, you will be assisting in all aspects of long-range planning, including comprehensive planning and plan amendments, demographic and development reporting, neighborhood planning, and regional planning efforts. The Senior Planner will also help ensure the well-planned and attractive development of the City by preparing long-range development plans, reviewing and interpreting current development activity, and preparing codes and ordinances.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Assists with the implementation of long-range planning documents
  • Responsible for the management and implementation of development agreements related to special purpose districts
  • Conduct research and prepare written analysis, including recommendations and ordinances, required to implement land use policy decisions.
  • Responsible for data collection, statistical analysis, and compilation of reports to meet given objectives
  • Address residents and community groups regarding City plans, policies, and actions.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

If you are the right person for this opportunity, you will have previous knowledge of local codes and ordinances and current principles of planning practices and procedures, specifically with respect to local government. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of special-purpose districts and strategic partnership agreements.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning and/or related field; Master's degree shall substitute for 1 year of experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in the administration of local codes and ordinances.

  • Preferred Qualifications: AICP
