  • This position leads the Government that Works for All Strategic Outcome and oversees a portfolio of city departments that represent a $258.3 million budget and 1.072 full time employees: Building Services, Civil Rights, Communications and Public Information, Communications and Technology Management, Financial Services, Human Resources, Intergovernmental Relations and Labor Relations. Overall, the City of Austin has a $4 billion budget and more than 14,000 staff members.

  • Ideal candidates will be skilled leaders and managers with the ability to develop effective, collaborative relationships across City departments, ensuring a constant appreciation for the multitude of communities, perspectives and values that exist in Austin. The ability to develop and leverage authentic relationships with internal and external stakeholders is critical.

Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field and at least five years’ experience in managing and leading a complex organization, including two years’ experience in an executive capacity. Experience in government or an organization closely related to government is highly valued.

Starting salary range is $240,000 - $250,000   DOQ with excellent benefits.
