Full salary range: $67,371.20 – $97,281.60
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm,
evenings & weekends as needed
Under direction of the City Manager, develops, implements, promotes, analyzes and coordinates City and community climate action programs and projects including carbon emissions reduction activities, energy efficiency programs, conservation and natural areas management and community climate action education efforts. Provides technical assistance for climate action and environmental programs to other divisions, departments, and the community. Staffs the Climate Action Commission.
Bachelor’s degree in environmental policy, environmental studies, urban planning, public administration/policy or a related field from an educational institution accredited by a DOE recognized accreditation body plus minimum two years of professional-level experience in project coordination and management, preferably in climate action or sustainability-related initiatives, required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record required. Must be 18 years of age per Iowa Code 92.8. Must pass criminal background check.
Master’s degree related to environmental science, urban planning or public administration from an educational institution accredited by a DOE recognized accreditation body preferred. Interdisciplinary background is an asset as the position requires working across many departments and sectors. Previous exposure to municipal government operations a plus.
