The City of Gaithersburg is seeking a customer-focused IT Director to lead all enterprise information services and solutions in support of the City’s operations. The IT Director oversees a talented and high functioning team of IT professionals who support the City’s departments and their missions. The next IT leader will bring innovation and collaboration, working in support of City-wide goals to be a strategic partner in service delivery and smart IT solutions.
The IT Director performs complex professional work in the planning, organizing, and coordinating of the development, implementation, and maintenance of the City's electronic data processing, management information systems, and related operations. The IT Director provides leadership, direction, and advanced professional expertise and oversight to the Department and employees responsible for the coordination of the IT services for the City. The IT Director reports directly to the Deputy City Manager and works closely with the City Manager. As a member of the City’s senior leadership team, the Director collaborates with the City Manager, Deputy City Manager, and other department directors on strategy and policy to ensure the City’s mission, vision, core values, and long-range goals are incorporated into operational activities and services.
The IT Director:
Minimum qualifications include any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a closely related field, as well as ten (10) years of progressive experience in management information systems, which includes supervisory or managerial capacity. Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex information are essential.
Preferred qualifications include IT leadership experience in a government setting and demonstrated success partnering with operational departments that have 24/7 services. Experience in a full-service local government IT department, partnering and advising leaders on strategic initiatives, and helping to drive operational improvement through enhanced technology operations is also preferred.
The expected hiring range is $140,000 – $175,000, depending on qualifications, with an excellent benefits package. Learn more about options and employee-based benefits here.
