The Village of Arlington Heights is accepting applications for the position of Foreman I, Street Unit, in the Public Works Department of the Village of Arlington Heights.
Under general supervision, this position directs and manages Street Unit operations that include the construction, repairs, and, maintenance activities on Village streets. This position also leads all winter maintenance operations for the Public Works Department. In addition to these primary responsibilities, the Street Unit Foreman will coordinate special programs and projects with other divisions, departments, contractors, and outside agencies as needed.
The Street Unit Foreman develops the unit’s daily work plans and ensures efficient utilization of equipment, personnel, and operating supplies. This position will evaluate the operations and activities of the unit and implement improvements and modifications. This position prepares, administers, and monitors the unit’s operating and capital budget. This position will work closely with the department’s Central Purchasing team and Management Analyst to research and acquires the best price for the purchasing of various materials, supplies, and equipment.
Additional requirements include possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A with an air brake or the ability to obtain it in six months. Skill required in estimating labor and materials. Skill in the use of computer hardware and applicable computer software is also required. Performs other duties as assigned.
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and five years of experience with increasing responsibilities working in a Street Unit including two or more years of experience leading work or supervising staff or projects and the management of winter maintenance operations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Must be able to respond to emergency callouts. Performs snow and ice control operations as required.
The Salary Range of $86,728 - $117,084 DOQ and includes a diverse and competitive benefits package.

This position is responsible for all aspects of researching, planning, implementing, coordinating and evaluating programs and events for the Senior Center. This position involves interacting with other Village staff, internal agencies and external organizations to provide high quality services to older adults of the community.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to creating materials to promote programs and events that emulate a positive image of aging.
