The Village of Carol Stream, IL (pop: 39,854), a Chicago suburb which successfully balances residential, industrial, and extensive green space seeks an Administrative Intern to serve in the Village Manager’s Office.
Job Duties: The Administrative Intern supports the Village Manager’s office performing research, analysis, and special projects across operating departments with emphasis in policy drafting, communication, event management, and customer service. The duties of the Intern will vary depending on the Intern’s strengths, interests, and the day-to-day business needs of the Village. Anticipated responsibilities include:
Requirements: Full-time enrollment in a graduate program in public administration or a similar field is required, with pursuit of a career in local government preferred. The ideal candidate will serve in the position through the completion of their course work with employment ending upon or shortly after graduating with a Master’s degree.
Schedule: The Administrative Intern is expected to start work at the Village as soon as possible, but no later than August 1, 2022. The Administrative Intern will work approximately 20 to 24 hours per week with additional hours available during academic breaks. Scheduling is flexible and can adapt to the Intern’s academic requirements.
Compensation: The hourly wage for this part-time position is $17.00/hour and may be IMRF eligible depending on hours worked. Outside professional development opportunities are available, as well as Village paid membership with relevant professional associations such as ILCMA, IAMMA, and ELGL.
