Clackamas County seeks a dynamic and forward-thinking leader to provide the vision and leadership to address the technology needs of county departments, elected officials, and the general public.
We are seeking a director who is as much a strategist as they are a technologist; someone who will understand the enterprise vision of the county, work with varying lines of business, and help government services be accessible and transparent to residents. As the Director of Technology Services (TS), they will be responsible for leading the work of the department’s 55+ FTE, including budget, project management, contracts, strategic planning, communications, and cybersecurity.
The Director serves as a member of the county's Executive Management Team and is responsible for implementing policy direction by the Board of County Commissioners under the operational leadership of the County Administrator.
Clackamas County is committed to building a workforce that reflects the community we serve. We encourage applicants of diverse backgrounds and experiences or those with lived experience to apply.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience promoting an inclusive and diverse work environment. Our next director needs to be able to adopt digital innovations to meet the broad business-enabled technology challenges of the county. The ideal candidate is a strategic, proactive, and decisive leader who can address emerging technology issues with dynamic and universal solutions. The Technology Services Director must have the ability to influence change within the department and across the county through a passion for innovative technology trends and the ability to communicate a shared vision for enhancing the county's future needs.
The Director will need to provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure high-quality customer service to all Technology Services users. The selected candidate will lead the county-wide development of a strategic direction for information technology services, gauging and anticipating the diverse needs of County departments and offices. Additionally, the Director will need to evaluate our current technology infrastructure, identify opportunities to work with other jurisdictions, and explore private-sector partnerships to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
By remaining current with new technologies and innovations in the field, a successful director will ensure that information technology standards and procedures are maintained and practiced. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership skills to motivate TS employees to provide quality service to county staff and Clackamas County's residents.
These traits contribute to a competitive candidate for this challenging and exciting opportunity.
