Job Description

Cape Coral is Lee County’s peninsular city, lying along Florida’s Gulf Coast between the scenic Caloosahatchee River, Charlotte Harbor, and the Intracoastal Waterway. Known as a “Waterfront Wonderland,” it is a safe community with a wonderful climate, plentiful recreational activities, warm and friendly residents, and an excellent educational system. It is the 8th largest city in Florida and the largest city between Tampa and Miami with a population of almost 200,000, comprising 120 square miles.

With limited direction and extensive latitude and independent judgment, the Deputy Financial Services Director will assist in leading and directing the activities of the Financial Services Department, including oversight of the City’s comprehensive financial management operations including, accounting, financial reporting, program performance evaluation, treasury, billing, debt issues, research, payroll, grant coordination and reporting, fixed assets, and customer service. The position will also assist the Financial Services Director in coordinating the annual audit by independent Certified Public Accountants and annual State of Florida Annual Financial Report.

The City of Cape Coral seeks a strong leader as its next Deputy Financial Services Director who is comfortable in exploring non-traditional “out-of-the-box” approaches to improve operations and services in the management of the City’s financial operations. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field is required, with a Master’s degree preferred. Eight years of progressively responsible municipal finance experience, including five years in a supervisory role is required. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) is considered a plus.

The annual salary range for this position is $120,000 - $160,000, depending upon qualifications and experience.
