The City of Naperville currently seeks an Electrical Inspector for the Transportation, Engineering & Development (T.E.D.) Business Group. The role’s principle duties & responsibilities will include performing a variety of building inspections for commercial and residential projects in order to ensure compliance with the City’s adopted codes and supplements, with a strong focus on electrical inspections and reviewing related construction plans.

Duties include performing tasks associated with advanced technical building inspections; reading and reviewing construction documents; enforcing building/electrical regulations and ordinances; and keeping records of inspections performed.

The incumbent will also be cross-trained to handle T.E.D. general (non-electrical) construction inspections.
Minimum requirements include:
· A high school diploma (or equivalent)
· Five (or more) years’ experience in the building trades or experience performing inspections
· Must be a licensed electrician or hold electrical certifications from the International Code Council (ICC)
· A valid State of Illinois Class D Driver’s License
· Must possess skills in effectively utilizing computer equipment and software.
Other building certifications through the ICC or similar professional organizations are preferred.
Preferred candidates will be able to demonstrate strong communication skills, teaming skills, and the ability to provide excellent customer service in all situations.
