Summary
This position supports the Office of Sustainability and Resilience by implementing and communicating about the Town's Climate Action and Response Plan. This position will focus on outreach and communications and will create, implement, and manage multiple projects and programs.

Essential Functions
Leads outreach and communications for the Office of Sustainability and Resilience, including social media, website management, news content development, and in-person events (in coordination with other Town departments).
Leads or oversees projects and programs, including scoping, planning, communication, coordination of resources, status reporting, project review, and evaluation.
Builds community relationships and partnerships to support the Town’s goals for sustainability, climate action, and racial equity.
Researches, identifies, and evaluates the feasibility of new opportunities for projects and programs to support Council goals and initiatives that advance climate action, sustainability and racial equity.
Provides staff support to Town Advisory Boards, committees, and internal and external customers.
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Supervision Exercised
Work requires the occasional direction of helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, or temporary employees.
Physical Demands
The work requires sitting at a desk or table, with intermittent standing or stooping. Infrequent prolonged periods of standing and walking may be required during outreach events. The employee uses equipment requiring a moderate degree of dexterity. Occasional outside work.
Work Environment
The work is typically performed in an office environment. Work is occasionally performed outside the office in other indoor locations and outside in connection to programs, projects or related initiatives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
An equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the job

Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in biology, environmental science, communications, or a directly related field and two years of professional environmental and/or sustainability analysis or program administration experience
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation
Certifications
Possession of or the ability to obtain a valid driver’s license North Carolina issued by the state of NC and the availability of private transportation or the ability to provide transportation between job sites is required
