PAY AND BENEFITS

Annual Pay Range: $ 39,693.66 - $ 49,955.82

Hourly Pay Range: $ 19.083492 - $ 24.017222

Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

JOB DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Clackamas County's Facilities Management Division seeks a candidate able to perform various construction and maintenance work to join our team as a Building Maintenance Assistant.

This position will assist with construction and remodeling projects of county-owned and leased building structures and related systems. Competitive candidates will have experience, education, and training in construction or related building maintenance experience.

Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

• Any combination of relevant experience, education and/or training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills required to perform building maintenance or construction

• Knowledge of construction concepts and principles

• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with County staff, service contractors, vendors, customers and the public

• State of Oregon DEQ/OSHA approved Class III Asbestos Containing Material (ACM) Worker course/training certificate required within six (6) months of hire

• CPR/First Aid/AED certification required within six (6) months of hire

• Incumbents are required to perform after-hours emergency response on a call-out basis

TYPICAL TASKS

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

• Performs minor building maintenance and repair tasks; patches and paints interior and exterior surfaces; lubricates locks and hinges.

• Performs a variety of building maintenance and facilities support functions; moves furniture; loads and unloads trucks; picks up, delivers and stores supplies and materials; cleans and services vehicles and equipment. Remove snow and other debris from County facilities.

• Assists in the repair and maintenance of building systems, equipment and structures; Transports laborers and equipment in a light truck or van; Works with temporary or court assigned workers.

• Assist in the remodeling and construction of County facilities. Tasks include cleaning work site; staging construction materials; demolition; installation of drywall, carpet, floor tile, ceiling tile; painting and siding; builds or modifies cubical furniture or office furniture; concrete demo, cutting, and installation.

• Cleans and maintains a safe work environment; sweeps and scrubs floors; scrubs walls, clean ceilings and plumbing fixtures; removes garbage and litter; collects and transports recycling materials;

• Coordinates and monitors the work of contracted services for plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation and cooling, janitorial and other maintenance and repair work; requisitions and maintains an inventory of janitorial, landscape maintenance and repair supplies, materials and parts; maintains routine maintenance records.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Working knowledge of: Construction and building maintenance methods and practices; safety and accident prevention practices; customer and public service techniques; basic record keeping and reporting methods.

Skill to: Operate hand tools, small and large construction power tools, forklifts, bobcats, other construction equipment; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with County and temporary staff, service contractors, vendors, customers and the public; and basic use of computers and computer software including Microsoft Office Suite.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Incumbents perform after hours emergency response on a call-out basis.

Duties require frequent walking, climbing, bending, kneeling and the ability to lift and carry objects. Incumbents are exposed to a variety of environmental elements including wind, rain, snow, dust, fumes and other irritants.

Duties require squatting, kneeling, bending, twisting, balancing, climbing, fine motor control, and the ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds, and push/pull 100 pounds. Duties involve frequent exposure to confined spaces, loud noises, slippery and/or uneven surfaces, working at heights, and adverse weather conditions.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position is included in the County's alternate workweek program working 40 hours during a four (4) day workweek. The standard work week is Tuesday through Friday, with occasional required evening and weekend work. Specific hours and work schedules will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended. This position is designated as on-site/in-person. It is expected that the selected candidate will perform duties at the specified on-site work location.
