Under the authority and direction of the Mayor, the City Administrator assumes full management responsibility for all City operations, including the development and implementation of the City’s goals, objectives, policies, and priorities. The Administrator oversees the development and administration of the budget and implements budgetary adjustments as necessary. The City Administrator implements policy decisions made by City Council, prepares recommendations, and advises on matters requiring legislative action.
The successful candidate models behaviors expected throughout the organization and sets the tone for a welcoming and inclusive culture built on trust and collaboration. The City Administrator plans, directs, and coordinates, through department heads and other staff, the work plan for the City. The Administrator establishes appropriate service and staff levels and allocates resources accordingly, empowering staff to implement the goals of the City. Additionally, the City Administrator monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures, identifies opportunities for improvement, and implements as appropriate.

The City of Camas is a full-service city providing excellent services through nine departments, including Administration; Administrative Services, which consists of the City Clerk’s Office, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Municipal Court; Community Development; Finance; Fire and Emergency Medical Services; Library; Parks and Recreation; Police; and Public Works. We employ approximately 240 employees, including 12 part-time employees represented by five collective bargaining units with an adopted budget of $91.5 million, a general fund of $31.4 million, and a capital budget of $10.8 million.
The City Administrator has at least seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in municipal government, including five (5) years of administrative or leadership responsibility. A well-rounded background with prior leadership experience in a growing community and similar size organization that includes public safety is ideal. An exceptional ability to develop effective relationships with a history of working closely with a Mayor and City Council is essential. A sound financial background with a strong understanding of budgets and financial management is required.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, business administration, or related field. An advanced degree in public administration or related field is desired but not essential.
The City Administrator will establish a primary residence in the Camas community and pledge to participate in community affairs.
