Job Description

The Position

The City of Northglenn, Colorado, is searching for a Director of Human Resources to lead its stand-alone Human Resources Department. As a critical member of the City’s Leadership Team, the Director of Human Resources is responsible for providing leadership and establishing strategic and operational direction in all aspects of human resources for the City. The position is designed to support the City’s strategic initiatives and align with the City’s organizational culture work that is currently underway. This includes the work that has been done with the 2018 Employee Engagement Survey, the 2019 Resident Survey, and the City Manager’s vision of where the organization is capable of going in the future.

 The Director of Human Resources reports directly to the City Manager.

 Experience and Education

The minimum qualifications are any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in human resources, public administration, or a related field; seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in human resources; and a minimum of five (5) years of leadership/management/coaching experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 The preferred qualifications include a master’s degree and local government human resources experience leading change, building and transforming culture, and providing strategic partnerships at all levels of the organization. Preferred experience includes compensation and benefits, employee development, performance management, streamlining HR processes, talent acquisition and retention of high-performing employees, compliance, and risk management.


The salary range is $116,000 - $174,000, DOQ. Benefits offered include the following:
