Library Coordinator - Community & Access Services

Full-time, permanent position

Salary Range $75,545.60 to $116,500.80

Summary:

Plans and directs the circulation of materials to the public. Plans and directs the library’s public relations and marketing initiatives. Plans and directs library outreach services including homebound and jail services. Plans and directs library Bookmobile service. Administers use of library meeting rooms. Participates in ongoing library management. Functional direction is exercised over other permanent and temporary staff assigned to the Help Desk and Bookmobile or to various support functions within Community and Access Services such as materials reshelving. Works on the Help Desk and Bookmobile. Serves on community and library committees and task groups as assigned.

Job Scope:

Directly supervises seven to 12 staff. Assists in the development of the budget and makes recommendations for purchases, capital items or additional employees during the annual budget process. Monitors expenditures during the year. Serves on the Library Leadership team.

Minimum Education, Experience and Certification

Master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program required, plus three years of experience in a public library with emphasis on adult, outreach, or public relations services. Two years of supervisory experience required. State of Iowa librarian certification/endorsement will be required upon hire. Valid Iowa driver’s license required. Valid Iowa Class D Chauffeur’s license, endorsement 2 required within three months of hire. Criminal background check required.

Preferred Education, Experience and Certification

Five years of professional library experience preferred. Supervisory experience in a public library preferred. Experience with planning and budgeting preferred. Experience creating content for or overseeing library publications preferred. Experience working with news media contacts preferred.
