Job Description

The City of Emeryville (pop. 13,500), located at the eastern end of the San Francisco Bay Bridge, is the gateway to the East Bay. A full-service city, Emeryville is home to global leaders in filmmaking, biotechnology, software, and other high-tech industries; a retail and entertainment destination with flourishing arts, food, and culture; and a growing residential community. The municipality is financially strong with reserves at over 50% of the operating budget. The Finance Director leads a staff of six and oversees the City’s operating budget of approximately $47.8 million and CIP budget of $15.7 million.

The successful candidate will be an exceptional critical thinker who can develop innovative solutions and serve as an engaged supportive leader and mentor to a staff of six. The selected individual will work as a collaborative, strategic partner and embrace opportunities to modernize. Four years of progressively responsible accounting and financial analysis experience coupled with administrative and supervisory experience, and a bachelor’s degree are expected. A master’s degree and professional certifications are desired.
