Job Description

The City of Beaverton is seeking a Planning Support Specialist to perform essential administrative duties for Planning Division. This position is integral to the functioning of the land use permitting process and a valued part of the 21-person Planning Division team.  
ABOUT THE JOB: The city is looking for an administrative professional with experience keeping multiple complex administrative processes on track and working collaboratively in a team environment. As a member of the Planning Division team, the Planning Support Specialist will coordinate closely with other city staff in the Community Development Department, Planning Commission, and the City Recorder's Office by providing excellent customer service face to face, via email, phone, and video conference.

  • Capable and enthusiastic about working with a wide variety of people, including historically underrepresented communities
  • Bilingual in English and one of the city's priority languages (Spanish, Korean, Japanese, Arabic, Russian, Chinese, Vietnamese)

This is a non-exempt, SEIU-classified position. The classification is Support Specialist 2. This position requires occasional evening work. Hybrid work options may be available. There is one vacancy.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED, and 
  • 3 years’ progressively responsible experience performing detailed administrative work in a fast-paced environment; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience enabling the incumbent to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Ability to pass reference checks, a degree verification check and satisfy the requirements of a background check.
