The City of Watsonville is seeking an experienced Public Works professional with technical expertise, strong leadership skills, a commitment to social equity, and a strong sense of innovation to effectively manage and guide the Public Works and Utilities Department towards achieving established goals. The ideal candidate will be an approachable and strong mentor able to lead a high performing team, and will serve on the City Manager’s leadership team. The City of Watsonville is located within the beautiful Santa Cruz County just north of scenic Monterey. The lush agricultural location offers an ideal Mediterranean climate and the rustic small-town charm of a close-knit community. The City has a population of 52,000 and a land area of nearly 6.8 square miles. Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in Civil and Sanitary Engineering, Science, Public Administration, or a closely related field, and must have a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in public works projects, water, wastewater or solid waste facility design, construction, and operations, including at least five (5) years in a management or supervisory capacity.
The monthly salary range for the Director of Public Works and Utilities position is $12,975.84 - $17,388.91; placement within this range is dependent upon experience and qualifications.
