Job Description Summary:

The Senior Property Agent will work as a member of the City of Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Park’s (OSMP) Real Estate Services (RES) team in carrying out a broad array of real estate-related activities and duties associated with the acquisition and stewardship of OSMP real estate interests including land, water, and mineral rights. 

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES                  

Carries out real estate transactions including acquisitions and disposals. 

  • Negotiates and prepares agreements and transactional documents with assistance of City Attorney’s Office.  

  • Seeks RES team and OSMP staff input. 

  • Performs and coordinates due diligence work including title review, appraisals, environmental inspections and surveys. 

 

Supports OSMP’s Real Estate Services team. 

  • Addresses, negotiates, and resolves a wide array of real estate issues. 

  • Responds to inquiries and requests for information from both internal and external customers. 

  • Reviews acquisition records, contracts, title commitments, surveys, environmental inspections, and other due diligence documents associated with existing or potential open space properties. 

 

Plays significant role in stewarding OSMP land, water and mineral interests. 

  • Performs and oversees property monitoring, planning, and administrative functions as requested, including tasks related to city and county development reviews and monitoring and enforcement of OSMP’s ditch agreements, conservation easements, scenic easements, and development rights agreements.  

 

Prepares memos and delivers public presentations (including visual aids) for City Council, Open Space Board of Trustees and other public or official meetings. 

 

Other duties. 

  • May supervise or manage the work of Property Agent(s). 

  • Performs other related duties as requested to meet the needs of the department and city. 

  • Responsible for knowing and complying with all city and department policies and maintaining and promoting city values in all conduct.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Project management: Proficiency with project management methods and related variables including time, resources, requirements, and responding to unexpected events.  

  • Customer Focus: Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers and acts with customers in mind; establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains trust and respect.  

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years in public sector, land trust, or open space program or five years general real estate experience with knowledge of real estate law. 

  • Understanding of land conservation, water rights and stewardship practices.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS      

  • Must have a valid drivers' license and the ability to maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record.   

  • Acceptable background information, including criminal history, is required as well.  

  • Capable of adjusting to in-person or work-from-home arrangements as needed to serve business need.
