Hillsboro is one of Oregon’s most diverse and dynamic cities with a steadily growing population of more than 110,000 residents. Hillsboro is the largest city in Washington County, known as the “high-tech hub of Oregon.” With a thriving economy, Hillsboro is home to Oregon’s fourth-largest school district, two higher education campuses, and 28 parks with more than 1,500 acres of designated green spaces.
With an annual budget of $32.4 million, Hillsboro Fire & Rescue employs 131 personnel, of which 120 are sworn. We pride ourselves on providing highly trained staff with state-of-the-art equipment to serve residents, visitors, and businesses. The department provides around-the-clock response to fire and medical emergencies as well as business services and life safety outreach and education. Hillsboro’s five fire stations are strategically located throughout the 24.25 square mile area of the City of Hillsboro. Hillsboro Fire and Rescue is creating an eligibility list to fill expected full-time vacancies for Firefighter EMT and Firefighter Paramedic for September 2023 and January 2024. The eligibility list will remain valid for a period of one year from closing date of posting or until the list has been exhausted.
Compensation
Firefighter EMT: $65,195.00 - $93,573.00 Annually
Firefighter Paramedic Incentive Pay: 10%
Application Process
Step 1: Eligible persons who are qualified and interested in applying must sign up at www.nationaltestingnetwork.com. Select Firefighter Jobs under the ‘Find Jobs’ menu link and select Hillsboro Fire and Rescue.
Step 2: Schedule and complete the FireTEAM written exam with the National Testing Network. This test must be completed prior to submitting your application on Step 4.
Step 3: Complete Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT).
Step 4: Follow the standard application on the City of Hillsboro’s Career Opportunities page.
