The Civil Engineer performs professional civil engineering work of considerable difficulty in the investigation, planning, design, development, research, and control of public works projects.
Work Independently Outdoors - Routinely monitor contractor activities outside and work independently, making sure that contractors are following project specifications and plans while also adhering to local, state and federal construction codes.
Go Green – Make a difference in your community by overseeing lead water pipe replacement and green infrastructure projects, such as rain gardens, bioswales and porous pavements that storm water runoff and reduce the amount of pollutants discharged into our local streams and rivers.
Project Planning – Participate in the planning process for large-scale infrastructure projects like streets and sewer pipelines.
Budget Management – Make decisions regarding material amounts and costs on projects totaling up to $3 million each.
Transform and Redefine West Allis – Help rebuild this former Milwaukee industrial suburb for a new future beyond factories which includes complete streets that accommodate bikes and pedestrians and serve dozens of new sidewalk cafes, restaurants and coffee shops.
Problem-solving – See results from your work by overseeing the day-to-day work on a job site and resolving contractor issues and other problems that may arise.
Team Coordination – Work on teams with other technicians and engineers who are each responsible for individual project elements.
