The City of College Station is seeking a Director for our award-winning team of professionals as we continue to grow and pursue innovative solutions. Under general direction of the Assistant City Manager, the Director of Planning and Development Services is responsible for the organization, direction and management of the Planning and Development Services Department, including the following working groups: Administration; Development Coordination; Long Range Planning; Transportation Planning; Bicycle, Pedestrian and Greenways Planning; Land development; Engineering; Infrastructure Construction and Inspections; Building Permitting, and Building Inspections. Responsible for preparing and implementing plans and programs necessary to address City Council issues, directives and special projects.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in urban planning, architecture, civil engineering, construction management, public administration or related field, and seven (7) or more years of progressively responsible planning, engineering, building, or public administration experience, including five (5) years leadership experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. In addition, a valid Texas Driver’s License, knowledge of planning and development principles and practices is required for consideration. Knowledge of code administration, ordinance development and ordinance enforcement are essential for success. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication, and public presentation skills are also critical skills to fulfill the expectations. Candidate must be available for emergency response.
