About This Opportunity
The City of Hillsboro Water Department is seeking an Engineering Coordinator to join their dynamic, collaborative team. The Hillsboro Water Department operates at a metropolitan scale from a suburban environment, with responsibilities for local water distribution as well as for regional water supply, providing drinking water supply to nearly 400,000 people. The Water Department is working on a $520 million 10-year capital improvement program. Come join a high functioning, enthusiastic team in Development Services of the Water Department 
 
General Statement of Duties

  • Supervise the Cross Connection and Franchise review team
  • Perform land use and construction plan review while consistently applying the City's Design & Construction Standards.
  • Attend pre-application meetings as the Water Department representative.
  • Mentor subordinate staff for professional growth.
  • Support other Sections, Workgroups & Departments as appropriate or as directed.
  • Maintain positive and effective customer service principles. 


Current/ Upcoming Projects

  • Support the Development Services Manager in representing the Water Department & City of Hillsboro to the development community
  • Development of the North Hillsboro Industrial zone & South Hillsboro residential community. 


Successful Candidates Will Be
 Knowledgeable in the following areas:

  • Reading and interpreting construction drawings; Interpretation of construction specifications;
  • Plan review principles and practices
  • Understanding of the City’s Design & Construction Standards and how to apply them;
  • Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations, and standards
  • Current construction practices and technology; Current safety protocols; Review of submittals; 
  • Utility construction & design;
  • Projectdox, Accela Automation & GIS mapping systems software;
  • Maintaining systems and database records 
  • State of Oregon Cross Connection requirements.
  • Experience leading and supervising a team, mentoring staff to develop their professional experience and knowledge, and establishing and enforcing consistent, standard practices.
  • Desire for continual self, and organizational improvement.
  • Desire to work in a team environment.


Acceptable Experience and Training
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration, Project Management or a closely related field and 2 years of experience in assigned area of responsibility, including 1 year of lead or supervisory experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
