About This Opportunity
The principal function of an employee in this position is to oversee, manage, and direct the Roadway Engineering Section of the Transportation Division. The Roadway Section Manager leads a team of engineers and engineering technicians (4 personnel) responsible for the planning, design, coordination, implementation, review and inspection of improvements related to the City-managed roadway infrastructure. The City values maintaining its assets (250 centerlane miles of pavement, 140 miles of bicycle infrastructure, over 330 miles of sidewalks and associated ADA facilities, and roadside vegetation), funding approximately $6 million in maintenance annually. Hillsboro uses asset management software, GIS, and technology solutions to assess and program asset management, and is a northwest leader in asset management.
The City of Hillsboro is proud to have a fully funded community approved pavement management program, an option that is rare among agencies.
This position will help identify and implement an asset management program for sidewalks, coordinating closely with the City GIS, finance, and Operations teams. This position also works with partner agencies to implement transit infrastructure, with neighborhoods to address issues with sidewalks, planters and street trees, with developers to create our community, and with other Hillsboro departments to deliver responsive, equitable customer service.
