Job Summary
Minimum Qualifications
§ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in law enforcement, criminal justice administration, police science, social sciences, public administration, business administration or similarly related field, and
§ Ten years full-time experience of progressively responsible law enforcement experience, including five years of related management experience;
or
Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions and responsibilities of the position.
and
§ Verbal and written fluency in the English language
§ Pass a comprehensive background investigation
§ Pass medical and psychological evaluations
Certification and Licenses
§ Possess Oregon DPSST Management Certification (out of state candidates must obtain within 2 years after appointment)
§ Must obtain Oregon DPSST Executive Certification within two years of appointment
§ Required at time of appointment or obtain within 90 days of hire and maintained during employment: Law Enforcement Data System (LEDS) certification and Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) clearance
§ Valid driver license at time of hire and maintained during employment
§ Required within six months of promotion or hire: NIMS IS 100, 200, 700, and 800 certifications
§ Required within two years of promotion or hire: NIMS IS 300 and 400 certifications

Pay Range
Annual: $127,192 – $165,942
The City of Keizer is located in the beautiful Willamette Valley with Oregon’s largest city, Portland, to the north, and the state capitol, Salem, bordering Keizer to the south.
The Oregon coastline and mountains are located just west of Keizer within a one-hour drive. Our weather is moderate throughout the year with summer temperatures typically in the 70’s and 80’s.
Keizer’s population is 38,585 and it is the 14th largest city in Oregon. In spite of its growth since the 1990’s, Keizer continues to preserve its small-town pride by supporting many volunteer organizations and community-wide events.
Some notable events include the Iris Festival and parade, the Miracle of Christmas lighting display, the Holiday Lights parade, and a summer concert series and events at the Keizer Rotary Amphitheater. Keizer is also the home of the Volcanoes, and the four professional baseball teams in the newly created Mavericks Independent Baseball League.
