This position plans, organizes, directs and manages the City’s water utility, the Class A Water Reclamation Facility (WRF), and Biosolids. The incumbent manages the maintenance of the Water System; administers the department’s Environmental Reporting and Compliance, Clean Water, and other laboratory programs; and participates in research and long-range planning activities pertaining to future water, water rights, wastewater, and reclaimed water infrastructure needs.
This position assigns work for the Water and Wastewater Lead workers and supervises the performance of those crews. He/she trains and coaches employees in best practices to design, construct, operate and maintain these complex utilities systems, including routine, preventative maintenance activities to assure optimal useful life from the operating facilities. This position develops service standards, evaluates customer services and resolves internal and external customer disputes. He/she may represent the Public Works Director.
