Job Description

The City of Harrisonburg, Virginia is seeking qualified candidates for consideration as the next Deputy City Manager, which serves as part of the City Manager's Executive Leadership Team. In this role, the Deputy will plan, lead, direct, and evaluate the operations and programs of the City Government, develop and maintain relationships with City Council, employees, and the public, and coordinate the City's operating budget and capital improvements.

The City of Harrisonburg is an independent city located in the picturesque central Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia and serves as the county seat for Rockingham County. Located along the I-81 corridor and only a two hour drive from Washington, D.C., and Richmond, Virginia, the City has a population of 55,700, which makes it the largest city in the Shenandoah Valley and the second largest on the I-81 corridor in Virginia.

The City of Harrisonburg operates under a council-manager form of government, which includes five elected officials serving at-large. This is a full-time exempt position with a salary range of $123,968 - $185,952 plus excellent benefits. An exact salary will be dependent upon the selected candidate's qualifications/experience and in compliance with City policy.
