About the Position
The Village of Arlington Heights is accepting applications for the position of Maintenance Worker I in the Forestry & Grounds Unit of the Public Works Department. As part of a dedicated team, the Maintenance Worker I – Forestry Unit will be responsible for the maintenance of trees, municipal grounds, and right-of-ways. The Maintenance Worker I will plant, cultivate, and care for trees, flowers, and shrubs, including treating with pesticides and fertilizers. In addition, the Maintenance Worker I will assist with trimming trees and feeding into a chipper. The Maintenance Worker I will operate basic equipment and machinery. The Maintenance Worker I will perform other duties as assigned, and must be able to respond to emergency call-outs and participate in winter maintenance operations.
The minimum starting salary for this position is $65,280 and includes a diverse and competitive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, paid vacation, and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund pension plan. The normal work hours for this position are Monday - Friday from 7:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. for a total of 40 hours per week.
Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED), and least one year of experience in general or municipal maintenance and repair. A valid Illinois Commercial Driver’s License Class A with airbrake and tanker endorsements is preferred, or must be able to obtain within one year of hire. Experience in tree care preferred. Candidates should hold an Illinois Pesticide License or have ability to obtain within one year of hire.

Program Coordinator – Senior Center

The Village of Arlington Heights a northwest suburb of Chicago, population 75,101, is accepting applications for Program Coordinator at the Senior Center, a division of the Health & Human Services Department.
This position is responsible for all aspects of researching, planning, implementing, coordinating and evaluating programs and events for the Senior Center. This position involves interacting with other Village staff, internal agencies and external organizations to provide high quality services to older adults of the community.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to creating materials to promote programs and events that emulate a positive image of aging. Marketing material may include bi-monthly newsletters, flyers, monthly reports, press releases and social media postings. Knowledge of programs and services relating to senior services and skill in writing reports preferred. Good knowledge of social media and Microsoft Office programs. Minimum requirements include a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services, Social Services, or related field and two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Starting salary for this position is $78,902 and includes a diverse and competitive benefits package. May need to work evenings and/or weekends on occasion.
