Human Resources Director – Guilford County, NC

Centrally located in the beautiful Piedmont Triad area of north-central North Carolina, Guilford County is a place rich in history, culture, and economic promise. Organized in 1771, Guilford County is now the state’s third-most populous county, inviting residents to make themselves at home.  The County operates as a council-manager form of government, with a Board appointed County Manager to administer various County functions.  The Human Resources Director reports to a Deputy Manager.

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, innovative and strategic Human Resources leader with a passion for public service.  Guilford County is seeking a forward-thinking, proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment and who seeks opportunities to design and implement best practices that serve employees and the organization.

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field and eight years of progressive experience in human resources administration, including at least five years of experience in leading and directing teams. An equivalent combination of experience, education, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the position’s essential functions successfully may be considered. Professional, recognized and credentialed HR certifications are preferred.

Experience with establishing performance metrics and analytics through the use of a HR ERP system, experience with organizational development concepts, trends and programs and skills in project management are desirable.

The full salary range for this position is $120,429 to $215,425, and starting salary will be based on the selected candidate’s education, qualifications, and experience.
