Job Description

Located in the northeast corner of the beautiful Flint Hills, the City of Marysville is the seat of Marshall County, Kansas, and home to just under 3,500 people. This is where creativity, culture, and community collide, and people enjoy coming together to create a wonderful place to live, work, and play. With generous spirits and broad smiles, locals embrace residents and visitors of all ages; relationships are built at area events, in church pews, or the aisles of local shops, and the camaraderie makes Marysville easy to call home.

The City of Marysville is searching for an experienced and innovative public servant ready to help the community grow into its future while holding true to its small-town feel and exceptional quality of life. The selected candidate will always work in the City’s best interests, communicating regularly with the City Council on good news and bad, effectively handling controversy or difficult people when they arise, and having the confidence in their own judgment to say “no” when necessary.

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in business, public administration, or a related field and evidence of stable employment history is required, with a master’s degree in public administration or a related field preferred.

Candidates should also have at least five years of experience in local government as a city manager/administrator, assistant city manager/administrator, or senior-level public administrator with budget and supervisory responsibilities. Five years is preferred, as is professional experience in a small- to mid-sized community, and experience with planning, community building, and personnel management. Strong knowledge of municipal infrastructure will be an asset.

Please note that the selected candidate will be required to establish residency within Marysville city limits within six months of hire.

The City of Marysville is offering a starting salary range of $80,000 to $125,000 for this position, depending on experience and qualifications.
