Position Overview:
The Springfield Finance Department is seeking a Senior Accountant who will perform a range of professional accounting activities, financial reporting, and technical support duties related to developing and maintaining complex financial records for funds, projects, grants, or other accounting entities. This position interacts with other City departments, helping to manage budgets and grants. The Senior Accountant has responsibility for numerous funds from budget preparation through financial statement presentation. The position handles the accounting functions for grant reporting and the separate audit of federal expenditures.
An ideal candidate would be dependable, able to work independently, and make accounting judgements related to the treatment of transactions. Curiosity is a plus for this position, as it involves analysis and computer solutions.
Education/ Experience:
The City will consider any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education, and experience to meet minimum qualifications. Such a way to meet minimum qualifications could include:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, and;
• 5 or more years performing complex and advanced accounting and financial functions including 3 or more years of financial statement preparation
Preferences may be given based on prior experience:
• Prior Oregon budget law experience
• Prior grant or governmental experience
Selection and Interview Process:
