The City of Ripon is looking for a dynamic professional to replace its retiring City Administrator/Treasurer  Ripon has had six Administrators since establishing the position in  1976. The City of Ripon is located in Fond Du Lac County, at the intersection of three state trunk highways, STH 44, 49 and 23 and within minutes of U.S. Highway 41 corridor, located east of the community. Wisconsin’s largest business and consumer-populated markets (Fox Cities, Green Bay and Milwaukee), are as near as one hour away. Ripon is the home of Ripon College, and is famous as the birth place of the Republican Party. Ripon provides both small-town and rural quality of life, a comparatively moderate cost of living, with a vibrant local economy, including a historic Main Street serving as a regional commercial hub, with dynamic cultural amenities, community events and an expansive park system, solid industrial base, all within the center of a robust agricultural region. Ripon is in close proximity to a number of recreational and natural areas, such as Lake Winnebago, Big Green Lake, Lake Puckaway and Rush Lake, Horicon National Wildlife Refuge, as well as quality biking and hiking trails such as the Mascoutin Valley State Park Trail and Riggs County Park.

Starting salary range is $85,000 - $115,000 DOQ plus excellent benefits. Mayor and eight Council members, including Council President, elected on a non-partisan basis; two Council members  representing each of the four districts.  Ripon’s annual General Fund budget is $5.3 million, Special Revenue Fund of $1.9 million (primarily fire services, library and taxi service), Debt Service Fund of $740,000, Capital Fund of $2.6 million (including tax incremental districts (TIDs), Utility Fund of $4.3 million and Internal Service Fund (self-funded health insurance) of $1.2 million. Staffing levels include 52 full-time and 53 part-time employees, plus paid-on-call ambulance EMTs and paramedics, and  temporary and seasonal employees.

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or related field; prefer master’s degree with a minimum of five years progressively responsible administrative and leadership experience in a municipal organization. International City/County Management Association Credentialed Manager (ICMA-CM) is a plus. Consideration of candidates with private sector or military experience will be made if they can demonstrate accomplishments that directly relate to skills required. Residency is encouraged but not required. The successful candidate must demonstrate a verifiable record of past accomplishments in the following areas:  budgeting and finance, human resource management, grant writing, commercial development and redevelopment, economic development and community marketing, and capital improvement planning. Technological and social media acuity is a plus. The successful candidate should have a high level of both personal and professional integrity,  a strong work ethic, including dedication to public service, open and  positive communication skills, team building, and community leadership acumen, acute listening skills, and the ability to work harmoniously with elected officials including other governmental entities.
